Nowadays, a jewelry box is already considered a necessity especially if you have quite an array of a collection. Unfortunately, some of us cannot afford a jewelry box that will fit into our needs and desires. But this does not mean that we should just lat our valuables just hang loose around. We cannot just let those important pieces lie around and get the risk of being damaged or torn apart.
That is why a better alternative for those of us who are having a tight budget is to make a jewelry box of our won that we could personalize and decorate just the way we want them to be. Aside from this, creating inexpensive jewelry boxes can be a fun way to show your creative side. And you can also teach your little girls the different ways that they can make their own too. It could certainly be a bonding time for all mother and daughters out, too.
In making this fun activity, you will need the following materials: small boxes, colored or glossy paper, stickers, paint, small charms or anything you can use as decor, and small mirrors. And simply follow the steps below. Take note that in making your own inexpensive jewelry box, you are free to modify some, if you feel like doing it.
- Prepare all the materials that you are going to need. Prior to this, you can try visiting some local stores, or even online ones, and look for the design that you would like to make to your own jewelry box. After doing so, then start by gathering the things you will need.To allow time for drying, you can start gluing or painting the colored or glossy papers that you will put outside the boxes. Also, you can start gluing the inside linings in advance.
- Together with your kids, or daughters, you can apply stickers and some glue glitters to the boxes for a more personalized look. You can also ask your daughter to glue on pictures or whatever symbols that will identify the box as their own
- Then, glue the mirrors in the lid of the box. To prevent the mirror form falling and getting broken, it may be wise to turn the jewelry box upside down as the glue is drying. The small mirrors can be the finishing touch that your kids are bound to love doing and this will make the box a “real” one for them.
- When the box is made, and to add meaning to the activity, have each of the children who helped you sign their names, with the date too, at the bottom of the newly-made jewelry box.
Now, who says jewelry boxes are just for those who can afford to purchase them? Surely this inexpensive jewelry box that you yourself made can be worth it, too. They can also be for those imaginative and creative souls, too.
